Coaching That Meets You Where You’re At
Maybe you’ve tried all the things and you’re feeling a little jaded or burnt out. Maybe you’ve been quietly ignoring a growing list of pesky little health concerns, hoping they’ll sort themselves out on their own. Or perhaps you’re like so many of us—you’re pretty sure you know what to do. You just haven’t been able to make yourself do it. (I see you!)
It doesn’t matter where you are in your journey, it is never too early or too late. You are never “too broken” or “not broken enough” to seek out support.
My job is to meet you where you’re at.
Together, we’ll dig deep (like, really deep), connect the dots, identify what’s really going on beneath the surface, focus on the diet and lifestyle changes that will have the biggest impact, and build sustainable habits that fit not just real life, but your real life.

One-on-One Coaching
A Fully Personalized Experience
Working together isn’t about me handing you a meal plan and sending you on your way. It’s a partnership. And it’s about so much more than food.
My role is to be your guide. I want to hear your story and help you understand the broader arc of what’s happening inside your body and why. Together, we’ll navigate your plan, troubleshoot the inevitable challenges that come up, and celebrate your wins along the way.
Over time, my hope is that your confidence in making decisions about food, lifestyle, and your health will continue to grow.
This is a great fit if you:
Love to learn. You want to understand why, not just what to do (fair warning: I love to teach!)
Value having someone to help you prioritize what matters most so you don’t feel overwhelmed
Are ready to build foundational habits one step (or perhaps micro-step) at a time
Are ready for real, lasting results, but know that there is no magic pill – just good ol’ fashion consistency
Understand that you are the hero of this story. You are the Luke Skywalker, not me. I get to be Yoda!
“Working together isn’t about me handing you a meal plan and sending you on your way. It’s a partnership.
And it’s about so much more than food.”
THE JOURNEY
Let Me Tell You About Metabolic Balance®
Metabolic Balance is a powerful tool that I’ve included in my coaching program.
Why?
Because I’ve found it to be one of the most effective frameworks for helping people improve blood sugar regulation, reduce inflammation, support metabolic health, and build sustainable eating habits.
If you’re unfamiliar with the program, which is highly likely, this short video explains what it is, how it works, and why I use it.
✔ Personalized
Built around your own blood chemistry—not someone else’s.
✔ Rooted in Whole Foods
No shakes. No meal replacements. Just real food.
✔ Structured, But Sustainable
A clear roadmap that becomes more flexible over time.
✔ Education Along the Way
Understand your body so you can confidently care for it long term.
Considering A GLP-1? Already On One?
Whether you’re currently taking a GLP-1, thinking about starting one, or hoping to eventually transition off, you’re welcome here.
My goal isn’t to convince you to take—or not take—a medication. It’s to help you build the nutrition, lifestyle, and metabolic habits that support your health for the long term, whether a GLP-1 is part of your journey or not. And in the case of GLP-1 clients, it’s also to address side effects and ensure your journey is as healthy and sustainable as possible.
Every situation is different, and many people have questions about how a GLP-1 might fit alongside one of my programs. We’ll discuss your goals, answer your questions, and determine the best approach for you during your Discovery Call.
Far More Than A Meal Plan
Good nutrition is incredibly important. But nutrition doesn’t exist in a vacuum.
The food you eat influences your sleep, stress, energy, movement, hydration, and countless other aspects of your health. And those same things influence how—and what—you choose to eat.
That’s why my approach goes beyond simply helping you eat better. While nutrition is a foundational part of better health, it isn’t the whole story. The body is deeply connected, and lasting health comes from stepping back and supporting it as a whole.
Whether your goals include losing weight, improving your energy, lowering cholesterol, stabilizing blood sugar, addressing perimenopausal symptoms or simply feeling better in your own body, the roots of such issues are rarely 100% diet related.
Our shared goal is to improve the environment your body lives in every single day.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can you help me lose weight?
Absolutely.
Many people come to me because they want to lose weight, and I completely understand that. My approach simply looks a little different.
Rather than focusing on calories or willpower, we’ll work to improve your body’s metabolic health through proper nutrition and lifestyle. As the body becomes healthier, weight loss typically becomes easier and more sustainable.
My goal isn’t simply to help you lose weight.
It’s to help you address the underlying reasons weight was put on and has stayed on, so that you can maintain weight loss for years to come.
How much should I expect to invest?
I know cost is an important consideration. Coaching is a significant investment, and it’s one that deserves an open and honest conversation.
Rather than posting a fixed price on my website, I prefer to discuss the investment during your Discovery Call. We’ll talk through what’s included, answer any questions you have, and determine whether coaching feels like the right fit for you. You’ll never be pressured to move forward.
If we’re a great fit but cost is your biggest concern, let’s talk about it. I’d much rather have an honest conversation than have you make assumptions based on a number on a webpage.
My goal isn’t to convince you to work with me. It’s to make sure you have all the information you need to confidently decide whether coaching is the right fit for you.
Do you accept insurance or HSA/FSA funds?
Megan Strub Functional Nutrition is a private-pay practice and does not bill or participate with insurance. However, you may be able to pursue out-of-network reimbursement or use HSA/FSA funds, depending on your plan, your medical circumstances, and the documentation required.
I’ve created a step-by-step guide that explains exactly who to call, what to ask, what documentation you may need, and what I can provide.
Can't I just use AI to create a meal plan?
Absolutely—you can. In fact, AI can be a fantastic tool for generating meal ideas, recipes, or organizing information. I use AI myself, and I think it’s a great resource, but it also has its limitations.
For starters, creating a meal plan is only one part of improving your health. And when I use Metabolic Balance®, your nutrition plan isn’t generated from calorie equations or general health information. It’s built using your own blood chemistry, making it uniquely tailored to your physiology.
In addition, one of the biggest differences is clinical discernment.
AI is incredibly good at giving you a long list of things that could help. And if you ask it, it can even prioritize that list for you. What it lacks is the ability to ask the right questions, recognize patterns, connect seemingly unrelated dots, adjust recommendations as your body changes, view everything through the lens of functional nutrition, and help you understand why each recommendation matters. That’s what I mean by clinical discernment.
Or to put it another way:
AI can tell you what’s possible. A practitioner helps you decide what’s appropriate.
Lastly, sustainable change rarely comes from having the perfect meal plan. It comes from having someone who knows your story, celebrates your wins, helps you navigate inevitable setbacks, holds you accountable, and keeps you moving forward when life gets messy.
At the end of the day, information is wildly abundant. Personalized guidance…not so much. My goal isn’t simply to give you more information—it’s to help you understand what matters most for your body and walk alongside you as you put the right things into practice at the right time.
AI is an incredible tool, and I believe it has an important place in healthcare and education. But for most people, lasting change comes from more than information alone. It comes from thoughtful guidance, personalized recommendations, accountability, and having someone walk alongside you through the process.
Do I have to do Metabolic Balance®?
Not necessarily.
Metabolic Balance is included in my coaching program, but it’s optional.
Some clients begin with Metabolic Balance right away, while others benefit from first laying a few foundational habits before starting the program. Still others may choose to forgo it entirely.
Do I need blood work?
If you choose to participate in Metabolic Balance®, yes. The program uses a blood draw to create your personalized nutrition plan, so it’s a required part of that process.
Beyond Metabolic Balance, additional blood work isn’t always necessary. While I cannot diagnose based on laboratory results, bloodwork can provide helpful insight into your health and help identify areas where nutrition and lifestyle may better support your body.
Will I need to take a lot of supplements?
Not necessarily.
I don’t believe good health comes from replacing a prescription with a cabinet full of expensive supplements. As much as possible, I want nourishing food and sustainable lifestyle habits to be the foundation.
That said, supplements can absolutely have an important role when they’re used judiciously.
Sometimes they’re used to help fill nutritional gaps that are difficult to meet through food alone. Other times they’re used therapeutically to support the body through a specific challenge while we work on the underlying cause. In many cases, those supplements are intended to be temporary rather than something you take indefinitely.
Whenever I recommend a supplement, there will be a clear reason behind it. I’ll explain why I think it’s appropriate, what it’s intended to accomplish, and whether it’s something I expect you to take short-term or long-term.
I don’t want you to build your health around supplements. I want you to build your health around food and lifestyle. But I will recommend supplements thoughtfully when they can genuinely move the needle.
Can I work with you if I'm taking a GLP-1 medication?
Absolutely.
Whether you’re currently taking a GLP-1, considering one, or hoping to transition off in the future, you’re welcome here. We’ll discuss your situation during your Discovery Call, answer your questions, and determine how my coaching can best support your goals.
What if I've tried everything?
You’re definitely not the first person to say that.
Many of my clients arrive feeling defeated after years of trying different diets, supplements, and health advice. My goal isn’t to give you more things to do—it’s to help you identify what matters most for your body and build a simple, sustainable plan from there.
If I'm taking hormone replacement therapy, do I still benefit from nutrition and lifestyle changes?
Absolutely.
For many women, bio-identical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) can be an incredibly helpful tool. It can significantly improve symptoms and quality of life during perimenopause and menopause, and for the right woman, it may be an important part of her overall care.
At the same time, I don’t view BHRT as a replacement for the foundational habits that support long-term health.
One of the ways I think about menopause is that it often reveals areas of the body’s physiology that may have been under strain for years. Blood sugar regulation, muscle mass, sleep, stress resilience, digestion, inflammation, and metabolic health all continue to matter—whether you’re taking hormones or not.
BHRT may help you feel dramatically better, and that’s a wonderful thing. But feeling better doesn’t necessarily mean the underlying lifestyle factors that influence long-term health have been addressed.
That’s where nutrition and lifestyle coaching come in.
My goal isn’t to help you choose between BHRT and lifestyle. I see them as complementary. Whether you’re taking BHRT, considering it, or have decided it’s not the right choice for you, we’ll focus on building the healthiest possible foundation so your body can thrive for years to come.
Do I have to give up all my favorite foods?
Absolutely not.
I love food too. I love it so much that I went to culinary school so I could build my life around my love for food.
And don’t think that means that I probably just make really fancy salads and vegetable dishes and that’s it. I love it all – including desserts!
My goal isn’t to convince you that enjoying food is wrong. Far from it! Food is meant to be enjoyed. I really believe that.
My goal is to help you build a body that isn’t constantly driven by cravings, understand when treats make the most sense, and show you simple ways to prepare many of your favorite foods using quality ingredients.
Will I recommend Mountain Dew Code Red and Doritos as part of a healthy lifestyle? Probably not.
But high-quality ice cream, dark chocolate, toast with quality butter and jam, or a slice of birthday cake shared with people you love? Those can absolutely have a place.
What if I don't like to cook or I'm not very good at it?
Building lasting health on a foundation of processed convenience foods is incredibly difficult, no matter what health claims are printed on the package.
The good news is that healthy cooking doesn’t have to be complicated.
After years of experience working in restaurant kitchens professionally, I have a strong understanding of and appreciation for simple cooking techniques.
Nowadays one of my favorite things to teach is how to prepare simple, nourishing meals that fit real life. My goal isn’t to turn you into a chef. It’s to help you become comfortable enough in the kitchen that feeding yourself and your family feels doable—and maybe even enjoyable!
Can we meet virtually?
Yes.
My practice is completely virtual, so all coaching sessions take place online. This allows us to work together from wherever you are, giving you the flexibility to meet from the comfort of your own home – or wherever in the world you happen to be.
Am I going to be overwhelmed by all the changes?
Probably not—and that’s intentional.
One of my core beliefs is that lasting change happens one step at a time. Rather than asking you to overhaul your entire lifestyle, we’ll focus on the few changes that are most likely to move the needle for your health. As those habits become second nature, we’ll build from there.
My goal isn’t to overwhelm you. It’s to help you build confidence along the way.
Why do you spend so much time teaching physiology?
Because my goal isn’t simply to tell you what to do. It’s to help you understand why you’re doing it.
When you understand how your body works, you’re far less likely to be pulled in every direction by the latest diet or health trend. My hope is that you’ll leave our time together feeling confident in making thoughtful decisions about your health for years to come.
Let’s Have A Conversation.
You don’t need to have everything figured out before we talk.
Whether you’re feeling stuck, curious about working together, or just wondering which path makes the most sense for you, I’d love to hear your story.
During your free Discovery Call, we’ll talk about your primary health concerns and goals, and I will explain to you what the process of working together would look like. If it sounds like a good fit, we’ll proceed with next steps. If not, that’s perfectly okay too.
Either way, my goal is that you’ll leave the conversation with greater clarity than when you arrived.
